Team Relocation
Commissioner Authority
- The Commissioner reserves the right to approve or deny any relocation request at their discretion. Decisions are final and may be based on factors including, but not limited to, league integrity, competitive balance, scheduling considerations, and long-term league planning.
Timing and Availability
- Relocation requests may only be submitted during the offseason.
- Requests are reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the maximum number of relocations permitted for that offseason.
Doubleday Baseball League (DBL)
Eligibility
- Existing team owners may request relocation once every seven (7) completed seasons.
- New team owners may request relocation after three (3) completed seasons in the league.
Division Alignment
- A relocating team may not change divisions as part of the relocation process unless another owner agrees to relocate into the vacated division.
Franchise Selection
- Relocated teams must represent a franchise that has existed at some point in baseball history.
- Fictional franchises are not permitted at the DBL level.
Offseason Limit
- A maximum of two (2) DBL teams may relocate in any single offseason.
Hugg Baseball League (HBL)
Eligibility
- Existing team owners may request relocation of their AAA affiliate once every four (4) completed seasons.
- New team owners may request relocation after three (3) completed seasons in the league.
Division Alignment
- AAA teams may not change divisions as part of relocation unless another owner agrees to relocate into the vacated division.
Franchise Selection
- Relocated AAA teams may use fictional franchises; however, the location must be a real and geographically valid city or region.
- Team names must be tasteful and respectful.
Offseason Limit
- A maximum of four (4) AAA teams may relocate in any single offseason.
